Objective: In this investigation, the amleorative role of esculetin (Esc) was investigated in gentamicin (Genta) nephrotoxicity in rats and the possible role of N-methyl-D-aspartate receptors (NMDAR) in genta-induced nephrotoxicity. Methods: Genta (100 mg/kg/day, i.p. for 7 days) was administered to rats for the induction of nephrotoxicity, and subsequently, the extent of renal damage was measured by estimating creatinine clearance (CrCl), blood urea nitrogen (BUN), uric acid, microprotienuria and fractional excretion of sodium, and potassium. In addition, renal superoxide anion generation (SAG), Thiobarbituric acid reactive substance (TBARS), and reduced glutathione (GSH) level were used to evaluate renal oxidative parameters. Renal myeloperoxidase (MPO) activity was used to measure renal inflammation. D-serine, NMDA agonist was used in this study to evaluate the role of NMDA antagonist in genta-induced nephrotoxicity. Histopathological examination was performed using hematoxylin and eosin staining method. Results: Genta-treated rats exhibited remarkable changes in renal parameters like increase in BUN, uric acid, microprotein fractional excretion of sodium and potassium with decrease in CrCl and similarly biochemical parameters like increase in SAG, thiobarbituric acid reactive species (TBARS), MPO activity with decrease in GSH level. Treatment with Esc (5 and 10 mg/kg/day, i.p for 7 days), NMDAR antagonist attenuated the genta-induced nephrotoxicity but did not shown significant effect on combined use of genta and D-serine treated group. Histopathological examination of gentatreated rats. The coadministration of Esc + genta-protected kidney tissue from nephrotoxic effect of genta as illustrated by normalization of tubules but not with the combined use of Esc + genta + D-serine treated rats. Conclusion: Esc displayed protective effect in genta-induced nephrotoxicity but combined effect of Esc + genta + D-serine abolished the protective effect of Esc thus confirming that NMDAR may be involved in genta-induced nephrotoxicity

As the complexity of medical computing increases the use of intelligent methods based on methods of soft computing also increases. During current decade this intelligent computing involves various meta-heuristic algorithms for Optimization. Many new meta-heuristic algorithms are proposed in last few years. The dimension of this data has also wide. Feature selection processes play an important role in these types of wide data. In intelligent computation feature selection is important phase after the pre-processing phase. The success of any model depends on how better optimization algorithms is used. Sometime single optimization algorithms are not enough in order to produce better result. In this paper meta-heuristic algorithm like butterfly optimization algorithm and enhanced lion optimization algorithm are used to show better accuracy in feature selection. The study focuses on nature based integrated meta-heuristic algorithm like Butterfly Optimization and lion-based optimization. Also, in this paper various other Optimization algorithms are analyzed. The study shows how integrated methods are useful to enhance the accuracy of any computing model to solve Complex problems. Here experimental result has shown by proposing and hybrid model for two major psychiatric disorders one is known as autism spectrum and second one is Parkinson's disease

Parkinson’s disease (PD) is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder. Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopment disorder. Clinical decision-making process is complex. Due to complex nature of disease sign and its symptoms clinical decision making may lead to misclassification. To deal with such complex medical problems methods or approaches of soft computing play an important role. This paper will focus on presenting an integrated Neuro-fuzzy model. This integrated model has the learning strength of neural network and knowledge representation ability of fuzzy logic. Modified Adaptive Neuro –Fuzzy inference system (M-ANFIS) is used here for classification and predication. Here Fuzzy C-mean (FCM) Clustering is used first to make classes of data before presenting in to ANFIS. This FCM based class will reduce the classifier computational overhead. Precision error and recall, F-measure and accuracy matrices are used to compare the experimental results with other classic methods

Migraine is a complex neurological condition, which can affect the whole body and can result in many symptoms as nausea, vomiting, photophobia (Increased sensitivity to light), phonobhobia (Increased sensitivity to sound) and osmophobia (Increased sensitivity to smell). Neurological symptoms that include visual disturbances such as blind spots, distorted vision, flashing lights or zigzag patterns. Other common symptoms includes- dizziness, vertigo, tingling sensations in the limbs, an inability to concentrate, confusion, difficulty in speaking, paralysis or loss of consciousness (in very rare cases). These symptoms, often called ‘aura’. Migraine attacks may differ in their frequency, duration and severity, although, normally they last between 4 and 72 hours, and most people are symptom-free between attacks. There are many drugs for the treatment of acute attack of migraine which can be divided into mild, moderate and severe attacks. In mild case NSAIDs like Paracetamol, Ibuprofen are prescribed. In moderate cases Anti-emetics like metoclopramide, domperidone can be prescribe with combinations of NSAIDs or triptans as sumatriptan. In case of severe cases triptans can be prescribed with ergot alkaloids and antiemetics. Following drugs are prescribed for the prophylaxis of migraine as sodium valproate, amitriptyline (Tricyclic antidepressant), propranolol and metoprolol (beta blockers). Erenumab-aooe is a calcitonin gene-related peptide receptor antagonist. It is specifically indicated for the preventative treatment of migraine in adults. Erenumab-aooe is supplied as an injection for subcutaneous use. The recommended dosage is 70 mg injected subcutaneously once monthly. Some patients may benefit from a dosage of 140 mg injected subcutaneously once monthly, which is administered as two consecutive subcutaneous injections of 70 mg each. Erenumab-aooe is a human monoclonal antibody that binds to the calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) receptor and antagonizes CGRP receptor function

Roles of the troponin isoforms during indirect flight muscle development in Drosophila

    Get PDF
Troponin proteins in cooperative interaction with tropomyosin are responsible for controlling the contraction of the striated muscles in response to changes in the intracellular calcium concentration. Contractility of the muscle is determined by the constituent protein isoforms, and the isoforms can switch over from one form to another depending on physiological demands and pathological conditions. In Drosophila, amajority of themyofibrillar proteins in the Indirect Flight Muscles (IFMs) undergo post-transcriptional and post-translational isoform changes during pupal to adult metamorphosis to meet the high energy and mechanical demands of flight. Using a newly generated Gal4 strain (UH3-Gal4) which is expressed exclusively in the IFMs, during later stages of development, we have looked at the developmental and functional importance of each of the troponin subunits (troponin-I, troponin-T and troponin-C) and their isoforms. We show that all the troponin subunits are required for normal myofibril assembly and flight, except for the troponin-C isoform 1 (TnC1). Moreover, rescue experiments conducted with troponin-I embryonic isoform in the IFMs, where flies were rendered flightless, show developmental and functional differences of TnI isoforms and importance of maintaining the right isoform

Structural, Dielectric and Electrical Properties of Homovalent Doped SrSn1-xTixO3 (0 ≤ x ≤ 0.08) System

The samples SrSn1-xTixO3 with composition 0≤x≤0.08 have been prepared using sol-gel chemical route by sintering at 1173 K. All the samples are found to be single phase crystallized in orthorhombic structure. The dielectric properties indicate the existence of interfacial and orientation polarization in samples found to be stable up to 300 oC. Thermal dependence of electrical conductivity represents two conduction regions with activation energy (0.77-0.94) eV in region-1 and (0.19-0.27) eV in region-2 respectively. The plot of dc conductivity with hopping frequency results unit slope representing that the charge carriers remain same in both processes. DC conductivity of samples are found to be increased with Ti4+, due to reduction in polaron size. The present materials can be potentially used in thermally stable capacitor and mixed ionic and electronic conductors (MIECs) applications
